How do you turn climate data into a competitive advantage that creates value for customers and suppliers? For BE Group, the answer has been to invest in digital transparency.
With a clear focus on sustainability and structure, they’ve taken a strategic leap forward by making their products more visible, traceable, and climatesmart directly in the design process.
BE Group is a leading independent steel distibutor supplying the constuction and manufactuing industies with steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, processed and tailored to streamline customers’ production. Through their production sevices, they add value to evey delivey, whether it involves standard products or customized components.
As an example of their sustainability efforts, BE Group offers "Below," a selection of steel products with exceptionally low climate impact. These products meet strict CO₂ footprint requirements, making it easier for customers to make informed material choices aligned with their climate goals.
With a sharp focus on digitalization, sustainability, and accessibility, BE Group aims to dive the industry forward. Central to this mission is transparency, both to create business value and to meet customers’ growing demands for climate data and traceability. That’s why BE Group chose to patner with Prodikt, a digital sustainability platfom that allows users to share product data, analyze climate impact, and create value throughout the entire chain.
We inteviewed Magnus Thulin, Marketing Manager at BE Group, to gain insight into
how the company works with digital product data, how they view the steel industry's sustainability transformation, and the role transparency and collaboration play for the suppliers of the future.

BE Group is driving the shift towards greener steel by combining digital traceability with verified sustainability data.
“We believe that future carbon product data will need to be even more accurate, verified, and machine-readable.”
“It’s an exciting time in the steel industry. We’re seeing a shift where green steel, circularity, and digital sustainability data are becoming increasingly important, and we want to help dive that change”, says Magnus Thulin.
With over 15 years of experience in plastics, sheet metal, and electronics manufacturing operations, Magnus understands the importance of structured product data, especially in complex supply chains with high technical requirements. He’s brought that perspective into BE Group’s strategy for a more data-driven, transparent, and sustainable steel delivery model.
BE Group has an integrated team where marketing, sales, technology, and sustainability work together toward a shared goal: to meet customer needs while staying one step ahead in a rapidly changing industry. To succeed, internal cooperation isn’t enough; close dialogue with both suppliers and customers is essential.
“We see partnerships as an extension of our team; it’s together that we create change.”
It was through this collaboration mindset that contact with Prodikt was initiated. In 2024, BE Group began looking for ways to make their carbon emission data available digitally, in a standardised and user-friendly format. Through industry networks, they connected with the team behind Prodikt.
What caught their attention wasn’t just the technical solution but the understanding of everyday realities in the construction sector. Prodikt wasn’t just another generic tool, it was a platform built for real workflows, focused on simplifying, structuring, and adding value in practice.
“We needed more than just a system. We needed a partner who understands our users’ needs, and we connected immediately”, says Magnus Thulin.

For BE Group, sustainability isn’t a side project, it’s a core pat of their business strategy. Their goals are clear: reduced emissions, improved resource efficiency, and a product range that reflects customer demands for climate-smart materials. A concrete step in this effort is the launch of a climate calculator in their e-commerce platform, where customers can see the CO₂ values of products directly in the shopping cart.
“We don’t see sustainability work as the opposite of profitability. Instead, it’s a prerequisite for long-term business success.”
A key pat of their work involves pushing pressure upstream in the value chain. By setting their demands, providing examples, and shaing climate data with suppliers, BE Group helps build a more transparent and sustainability-driven ecosystem.
Digitalization plays a central role in collecting and analyzing climate data and making it usable in the construction industry’s workflows. According to BE Group and Magnus, machine-readable, verifiable, and comparable product data is crucial for the future.
“We wish we’d started earlier especially when it comes to making our climate data available in a format that designers can actually use.”
With Prodikt’s support, BE Group has now taken that step. The platform enables them to deliver data tailored to the industry's needs while simultaneously strengthening their sustainability work in day-to-day operations and long-term strategy.

When BE Group decided to make their climate data more accessible, one of the first steps was to restructure their product information. Entering products into Prodikt proved both educational and positive, not least thanks to the support from Prodikt’s team.
“It takes some effort to structure the data correctly, but it’s gone smoothly and we’ve seen the benefits ight away.”
BE Group is now live with its reinforcement steel products, and more categories are on the way. By publishing data in a standardized digital format, the company has noticed an increase in dialogue with designers and significantly more interest in its climate values.
“Having data structured according to established standards means it can be reused across systems, which makes us more visible and easier to specify.”
Internally, the benefits have been noticeable too. Sales teams now have clearer and more relevant materials. The marketing department works more data-driven, and the sustainability team has a concrete channel to the market where figures and ambitions meet actual project specifications.
At the same time, BE Group is thinking ahead. They are clear that future demands from public and private players will be about verifiable, precise, and machine-readable product data.
“Those who don’t have their data in order risk being left out. Prodikt helps us meet today’s demands and prepares us for what’s coming.”
After structuring their product data, increasing visibility, and giving both internal teams and customers access to concrete climate information, BE Group has a clear recommendation for other manufacturers:
“Would we recommend other manufacturers to use Prodikt? Absolutely.”
For BE Group, business benefit and sustainability are not contradictory rather, they’re an example of how both can be strengthened at the same time. The platform has given the company better control of its data, opened new business opportunities, and deepened relationships with customers and designers.
“Prodikt makes it possible to be both visible and sustainable at the right time, in the right context.”
