Bim.com launches Design App – climate-smart architecture in Revit – It is now easier for architects to take responsibility for climate impact directly in the design process. Bim.com, part of BIMobject Group together with Prodikt and EandoX, is launching Design App – a Revit plug-in that automates climate calculations in real time.
The new application is a tool that lets architects carry out life cycle assessments (LCA) directly in Revit, without leaving the model or waiting for external consultants. In this way BIMobject Group strengthens its commitment to sustainable construction.
“We want to give architects the tools to make sustainable decisions straight away, without needing to become climate-data experts or search through different documents,” says Johan Wall, architect and project lead at Bim.com.

With Design App, product data is automatically matched to the content of the model. This makes it possible to calculate CO₂ emissions automatically based on the architect’s design choices – from materials to structure. The results are visualised in a dynamic carbon dashboard that follows the project’s climate budget as it evolves.
The architect gets instant answers to questions such as: “What does a glass façade mean for the project’s climate goals?” or “How will CO₂ emissions change if we switch from concrete to timber?”

Traditionally, LCA calculations require several handovers, long lead times and specialist expertise. With Bim.com’s Design App, climate impact becomes a natural part of the design process. Project owners can follow the development continuously and make sure the climate budget is kept on track.
Prodikt users also gain great value from Design App, as it is built on Prodikt’s climate-calculation model and connects it directly to Revit. You can use the app to quickly load your project and get an initial CO₂ overview, then continue working with more detailed product data in Prodikt. Project information from Revit appears directly in Prodikt thanks to the sync that takes place via the app.
“Our vision is to let data flow freely between models, people and products – so that climate targets become an integrated part of every building project,” says Johan Dyrssen, Head of Product at Bim.com and co-founder of BIMobject.

Design App is a puzzle piece in BIMobject Group’s ecosystem, which also includes the sustainability platform Prodikt, the global product library BIMobject and digitalisation services from EandoX. Together they enable a more data-driven and sustainable future for the construction industry.
Design App for Revit is now available for the Nordic market. Learn more at Bim.com/design-app.
