Home / Ressources / Sveafastigheter and H2 Entreprenad: Concrete sustainability in practice
30 June, 2021 [Press release]
To sharply reduce carbon emissions from the construction and real estate sector, there is a strong need for simple ways to measure the climate impact of materials used in building projects. Sveafastigheter and H2 Entreprenad are therefore entering into a partnership with Prodikt – a digital sustainability platform for building materials.

The will to reduce the sector’s climate footprint is growing, which is very positive. In close collaboration, Sveafastigheter and H2 Entreprenad have actively worked to calculate and reduce climate impact from construction materials such as steel and concrete, in line with GRI Scope 3. Now the scope is being broadened to include more material categories, with the goal of calculating the climate impact of all materials used in construction. To do that, a clear and pedagogical tool is needed. The newly developed digital platform Prodikt makes it easy to understand the sustainability performance of different building materials.
“Through Prodikt, users gain high-quality, comprehensive information about both the climate impact of products and entire projects. At the same time, the platform offers a clear overview of circularity levels and CO₂ emissions from the materials that go into the building,” says Rasmus Ekberg, CEO and co-founder of Prodikt.
Prodikt is a unique, open digital sustainability platform for building materials and furniture. Prodikt recently started a collaboration with BASTA – a database for construction products focused on phasing out particularly hazardous substances. By using data-driven sustainability information down to product level, Prodikt, together with Sveafastigheter and H2 Entreprenad, can actively help ensure that tomorrow’s buildings are more climate-smart, circular and healthy.
“For us, it is obvious that we must work in a concrete way to reduce our climate footprint. Through the collaboration with Prodikt and H2, we gain an overview of our CO₂ emissions, which makes it clearer where we should focus our efforts to reduce them. Hopefully, more actors in the industry will start to calculate, follow up, set requirements and transparently show their emissions,” says Görel Hällqvist, Head of Projects at Sveafastigheter.
The partnership is being realised in one of Sweden’s most exciting urban development projects in Jordbro, where H2 Entreprenad is building 367 rental apartments and a preschool for Sveafastigheter. Construction starts in autumn 2021.
“We want to streamline and influence where we can really make a difference, and reducing our climate impact is high on the agenda. Gaining accurate knowledge about the sustainability performance of different building materials is time-consuming and fairly complex work. That is why we have high expectations for the digital platform Prodikt,” says Rikard Hansson, CEO and founder of H2 Entreprenad.
The pilot project in Jordbro will generate knowledge and experience that can hopefully be applied to future construction projects. The collaboration between Prodikt, Sveafastigheter and H2 Entreprenad is an important step for the construction and real estate sector in its efforts to reduce its climate footprint.
Carbonzero AB provides the digital platform Prodikt – www.prodikt.com – where the sustainability of building products can be compared in a simple way. In collaboration with manufacturers, product data is made accessible and comparable across many different parameters. Prodikt does not rate or rank the products; the decisions are made by, for example, the architect, purchaser or developer.
Sveafastigheter is part of Samhällsbyggnadsbolaget i Norden AB (SBB). Sveafastigheter is a long-term owner and developer of housing and community properties with a strong sustainability focus.
Hanssons Hus Entreprenad, commonly known as H2 Entreprenad, delivers large residential projects, care homes and customised commercial premises across Sweden. Most projects are built with prefabricated concrete elements, where the construction method is adapted to each project and its specific architectural challenges.
